Building A Social Media Following From Scratch

Everyone starts at zero, right? This is briefly how I got from basically nothing to over 17 K followers in about 9-months on Instagram.

Social media is a pretty big deal if you’re a creative. It’s important to get your name, work and what you’re up to out there. Why? Well, it’s how a lot of us make money by clients, sales, books, etc. In a nutshell, this day and age it’s definitely a good thing with few disadvantages.

I have quite a few posts about social media in my courses. This vlog I talk about if you’re starting from zip. Like, let’s say you JUST opened up an account and want to build a following. What’s the best way of doing that? IS it possible? (Oh, you know it is.)

I take some of the strategies I’ve used to grow over 17K organic followers in about 9-months and demonstrate how that can work to get things moving instantly. If you already are on social media (especially Instagram), this can help with that, too.

So, login to that social platform of yours and lets get moving!

Ah, I thought the bright light was studio lighting for filming.😂 It works and looks great. Congrats on your new studio. I’m going to relook at my IG account and do a bit of tweaking. Thanks and I certainly am looking forward to hearing about the secret project. Cheers-

Who needs studio lighting when you have sun like that? 😀 Good luck with the IG tweaking. If you need any help along the way, be sure to reach out.

Thanks Nate! This will be very useful to me as I’m not on Instagram but know I should get on ASAP. FWIW two Facebook strategies I’ve used: 1) Contact the owner of a very popular group and pass them a cartoon or two, and ask them to share, 2) Directly share cartoons not to cartoon groups but to interest groups. For instance, I shared cartoons about squid to a surprisingly engaged Facebook group of mollusk aficionados. I’ve been able to get several comics to 100s of thousands of viewers this way.
