How Much Do You Charge Clients (especially if you’re just starting out)?

Clients. You want them, you want to keep them and you want to make them happy. With that, how much do you charge them so they hire you and you feel good about your rate?

When you’re just starting off as an illustrator or cartoonist, one area for income is clients.

Clients are awesome and great to have.  Plus, they’ll pay you for work!  How cool is that?

What do you charge though?  Especially when you’re starting out?

It’s scary to quote a price.  You think you’ll lose them if you quote to high.  You think you underquoted if you quote too low.  At the end of the day, there’s a happy medium so you can sleep well at night.

In this video I talk about several points.

— If it’s okay to work for free (or extremely cheap)

— Where to get information on quotes for various projects

— Not selling yourself short

— Why quoting HIGH is a win-win

and more.

I hope you enjoy this!  I may even break out some wine during this one.  You’ll see what I mean…
